M-CHEP launch event
Celebrating the launch of our center
On March 20th 2026, we celebrated the launch of the Munich Center for Health Economics and Policy at the Olympiacampus in Munich.
The opening event featured a compact program with contributions from politics and academia. The event was opened by Prof. Leonie Sundmacher, State Minister for Health Judith Gerlach, Dean Stephanie Combs, and TUM Vice President Juliane Winkelmann (from left to right), who highlighted key challenges and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare.
International perspectives were provided through keynote lectures by Nils Gutacker on the development of health economics in the United Kingdom, and by Dorte Gyrd-Hansen on the Danish primary care system and gatekeeping approach.
A panel discussion moderated by Prof. Amelie Wuppermann brought together representatives from self-governance and practice, including Irmgard Stippler (AOK Bavaria), Christian Pfeiffer (KV Bavaria), Dr. David Wachabauer (Gesundheit Österreich), and Michael Wetterich (Association of Nursing Professionals), focusing on reform options for primary care.
The event concluded with a reception for informal exchange.
